Dear Doctor,

The Australian Medical Association (NSW) is reviewing its online service offer to members as part of our work in modernising our communications.

Over the next 12 months we are planning to create and support active discussion groups of members, where you will have the chance to share information and seek assistance from the AMA. We will be sending you more information about this exciting initiative in the coming months.

As we move to a Web 2.0 footing, we are also reviewing our current services, including the DIT webmail service we have offered since 2005.

In short, the system is no longer of a standard that we think our members deserve, particularly with the rise of other free web-based mail services such as Gmail, which have higher standards of reliability and capacity.

For this reason we have decided to phase out our webmail service over the first three months of 2010, with a final shutdown deadline of 31 March 2010. This will allow us to put our resources into more practical web services.

As one of our mail service users, we want to ensure this transition does not cause you any undue inconvenience - and importantly, we want to assist you if you need any assistance in establishing a new account so do not hesitate to contact our member services team on (02) 9439 8822.

We also want to make sure we keep in touch with you, so we encourage you to send us your new email address - if you do before March 31 we will deduct $100 from your 2010 member fees.

The next 12 months is a vital time for all doctors - and keeping in contact will be vital if we are to support each other.

Regards,

Fiona Davies
CEO, AMA (NSW) Limited
